Puri Jagannadh is one of the best directors in the South India, Puri Jagannadh is going through a tough time in his career and badly needs a super hit film under his name. He has kept a lot of hopes on his new film 'Mehbooba', Puri jagannadh is now launching his son Akash Puri as a full-fledged hero with today’s release Mehbooba, which has hit the screens today. Let’s see whether this film gives Puri his much-needed hit.

Story:

Roshan(Akash Puri) is a young man who always dreams of joining the military. At the same time when a girl called Afreen(Neha Shetty) comes to Hyderabad for her studies from Pakistan. The young couple find out that they have been rebirth from the time of 1971 during the India-Pakistan war and have been separated in crucial circumstances. Rest of the story is as to how the couple recalls thier past life, how they solves their problems which have been posted by the animosity between India and Pakistan.

Analysis :

Akash does well in his both roles. The way he transforms himself in the second half and carries the film on his shoulders looks okay. He has good at dilouge delivery and acting. New heroine Neha Shetty has given a best performance in her role. Some emotional scenes generated through hero and heroine during the pre climax of the film are good. By the interval bang twist audience can predict the rest of the story. One of the biggest drawbacks is that the film lacks of good screen play. The film misses a lot of sense as the army's and the border-related scenes are shown in a silly manner. The film is filled with over the top elements completely which have no sync at all.Puri is stuck in the old days and narrates things on a predictable and silly note.

Apart from climax second half does not generate any interest and shown up as a disappointing manner. Production values of the film are good but special effects look quite outdated in some areas. Music score by Sandeep Chowta is a huge plus point to the film and the songs impresses. Cinematography work is okay. Dialogues by Puri Jagannadh are silly and stuck in the 90’s era.

Coming to the direction, he has done a very disappointing job with the film. 'Mehbooba' is his weakest film in his career as it looks quite annoying right from the scene one. There is no basic emotion in the film and the screenplay does not help matters much. The star director has failed to connect the audience in not even a single aspect making things difficult for them.

Plus Points :

* Akash performance

* Some emotional scenes between hero and heroine.

Minus Points :

* Puri Jagannadh direction is not up to the mark.

* Irritating screenplay

* Second half

* Entertainment completely misses.

Verdict:-

On the whole, Puri’s weakest film to date. The good story line with predictable narration and lack of basic screen play and entertainment go against the film completely. When it comes to direction this film will puts down the image of Puri Jagannadh. Don't expect anything new from the film and director Puri. Mehbooba is also joined in the flops list of Puri. Watch this one just for Akash and Neha Shetty's acting.
